Wagyu Beef Kidney Fat is the foundation for the the widely popular "Tallow" - a processed form of beef fat. Beef fat has made a tremendous splash in the past several years - taking over social media influencer accounts for it's comeback in both the culinary and beauty industries. Tallow has soared in popularity for skincare, candles, soap, food cooking, and adding flavor to food. One tablespoon of beef tallow generally* contains:

  • 115 calories

  • 13g of fat

  • 0g of carbohydrates

  • 0g of protein

  • 4 IUs of vitamin D

  • 10mg of choline

  • 0.35mg of vitamin E

Some of the prominent fats found in beef tallow include:

  • Myristic acid: A saturated fat also found in palm oil, coconut oil, and butter.

  • Palmitic acid: A saturated fat found in most fats and oils that may increase the risk of dyslipidemia (dysregulated lipid and cholesterol levels), inflammation, and fat accumulation—but possibly only in people eating excess calories and carbohydrates and leading sedentary lifestyles.  

  • Stearic acid: A saturated fat found in most meat and dairy products that may reduce LDL (“bad”) cholesterol levels and the risk of heart disease. 

  • Oleic acid: A monounsaturated fat also found prominently in olive oil linked to healthier body weight and reduced inflammation.

  • Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA): A naturally occurring trans fatty acid that has been shown to have immunomodulating, antioxidant, anti-cancer, and weight-regulating properties. As opposed to manmade or artificial trans fats, natural trans fatty acids like CLA are beneficial to health when consumed in moderation.
